I wrote a “fantasy world wishlist” email to HTC requesting a phone designed for people like me, who break shit all the time. I didn’t save the text I attached with the sketch, but here is the sketch I drew.

Work has been keeping me busy, but I am finally getting to have a Saturday to myself and as usual, gardening on Sunday. I might finally finish tilling and set irrigation up so I can start direct sowing seeds!!
Photos to expect:
- What’s growing in my garden now
- Stockton Asparagus Festival
- Progress pictures of the front yard
- Progress pictures/movies of the tadpoles

I was really surprised at how there was nearly zero fresh produce at this farmer’s market. It’s really more like an underground food court. Still pretty cool but definitely not what I was expecting. Robin made like a bandit!

Went on another hike with Luke to Rancho San Antonio Park to check on that dried out pond. It filled in! It’s not at full depth, but it’s only a few feet away from being full. So nice to see. I also totally wanted to go swimming in it since the water is freshly filled in and I know the aquaria aren’t huge and it was nice and sunny. But there were so many people around and we had sunblock on our skin (bad for the flora and fauna), so I knew that wouldn’t jive. Oh well.

Do you realize how hard it is to get a flying fly in a macro shot of a dead rodent? Well, it's not that easy. Note that there is one on the upper edge of the frame. Too bad I couldn't get it hovering mid air IN the frame.

One of the flies has landed.

Ground beetle crossing the hiking trail at neckbrace speeds... for a beetle.

Cottontail rabbit. One of the many, many rabbits along the trail.

A deer and quail on the trail.
Here are some before and after shots of one of my favorite ponds…

Previous Photo: No swimming on the dirt?
Remember this hike? (Probably not, since it seems like no one ever looks at this, but whatever. Let’s pretend you do remember because you did look.)

What pond? OH THAT ONE.

No swimming, no fishing? Now I get it.

Previous Photo: What pond?

Ohhhh. THAT pond.
Another perspective of the pond. A picture of the bottom of the dried up pond which looked more like a crater in the ground and then after it has filled up.And now back to the regularly scheduled pics of wildflowers and random animals from the hike.

Tadpoles

Tadpoles on shed snake skin along the pond shore.

Garter snake basking on the pond shore, surrounded by food (i.e. tadpoles) This is the snake the skin belonged to. Luke noticed it move when I was poking at the snake's skin.

Full length of the snake skin shedding. Note the mouth & eyes :) When I unwrapped it with a twig, the snake that it came from was only 2 feet away, so it's fresh!

I love my mandolin slicer. I sliced 4 potatoes perfectly paper thin in a matter of minutes. Tasty potatoes au gratin resulted.

I was reminded why I don’t like to photograph people at parties. Here are the pics I took anyways.

Early April snapshot of what’s going on in my garden…

Purple Artichoke!

Carrot blossoms.

Blueberries!

Purple?! Centipede

Some kind of larva that's not a ladybug larva. Need to flip through my shiny new California Insects field guide to identify it.

Cherry blossoms on a sunny spring day.
